What to Expect
Prepare for a thrilling adventure surrounded by the natural beauty of the Manrangu Route. The hike will challenge you physically and mentally, offering stunning vistas and a sense of accomplishment at every turn. Expect camaraderie, shared stories, and a deep connection with nature. The Marangu route on Mount Kilimanjaro is 72 kilometers (45 miles) in total:
Ascent: 36.75 kilometers (22.75 miles)
Descent: 36.75 kilometers (22.75 miles)
The Marangu route is one of the shorter routes on Kilimanjaro and is typically completed in 5 or 6 days. It's also known as the "Coca-Cola Route" because it's the only route on Kilimanjaro with hut accommodations for trekkers.

Airport Transfers:
Return transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) to accommodation in Moshi;
Return transfer from accommodation in Moshi to the entry gate into Kilimanjaro National Park.
Trip Safety: Helicopter Rescue
A helicopter rescue service will be provided to air transfer you (during daylight hours only) in an emergency from the mountain to hospital in Moshi. Note that this service will only be applicable if you have medical insurance which covers high altitude trekking up to 6,000 meters, and this service is always subject to weather conditions.
Trip Crew:
Professional guides, licensed by Kilimanjaro National Park. All our guides are well-equipped to handle medical emergencies as they have undergone various High-Altitude Medical Emergency Training to save the lives of climbers who fall sick on the mountain.
Dedicated support crew (assistant guides, camp master, porters, cooks, etc.).
Accommodations:
One night at 3* Marididi hotel https://themaridadihotel.com/ before the expedition and one night after; The hotels have everything for your comfortable stay - caring staff, nice rooms, reliable Wi-Fi, restaurant and swimming pool). Some rely on generators.
Tented accommodation on Mount Kilimanjaro (modern, comfortable 4-Season tents, Mountain Hardwear Trango 3/4 or equivalents).
Please Note:
All hotel accommodation is based on a sharing basis (i.e. you will be sharing with your travel companion a twin/double room. If you travel solo on a group expedition, we will room you with a same-sex participant unless you purchase a single supplement. Single occupancy in a hotel is available upon request and extra charges apply and can be purchased through our online store under single supplement.
Meals:
Breakfast in the hotel before and after the trek.
All meals on the trek. Our Kilimanjaro diet includes energy-rich and highly nutritious meals prepared by our professional high-altitude cooks. In our menu you will find different soups, garnishes, several types of fish and meat, fresh fruit and vegetables; vegetarian/gluten-free/halal options are available at no extra cost. Also options for lactose free are available upon request.
All drinks on the trek (juices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water). We will stop coffee to reduce blood pressure prior to summit night.
We send a resupply of fresh food from our office to your camp on Day 5.
Entrance Fees:
All park fees collected by the Kilimanjaro National Park (conservation fees, camping fees, crew fees, rescue fees and all other fees collected by the Tanzania National Parks Authority). These are subject to increase on or before July 1st every year and are now required to be paid in TSH/TZH instead of other currencies.
Hiking and safety equipment:
2-inches thick and comfortable sleeping mattresses.
All group equipment (spacious and comfortable dining tent, camping table and chairs, dining sets and cutlery).
Dry bag (to protect your duffel bag).
Portable toilets (one unit can be comfortably shared between up to 6 people). For more than 6, we will provide a 2nd toilet.
Bottled oxygen, blood pressure kit and pulse oximeter.
GPS-tracking service.
Complete medical kits including Diamox and Dexamethasone.
Future offering (Starting January 2026) Satellite Internet for the group setup at campsites.
Awards:
We have very high success rates and your trip includes a Certificate of Achievement if you make it to the summit at Uhuru Peak (19,341 feet). But your trip includes a Certificate of Achievement even if you only reach Stella Point at 18,885 feet.
We will bake a celebratory cake for the group if all make it to the summit together.
We will provide glow sticks on summit night to make the trek more fun!

Day 1: Marangu Gate - Mandara Hut -Unleash Your Inner Explorer!
Gear up, trekkers! After a delicious breakfast, we'll whisk you away from Moshi to Marangu Gate, Kilimanjaro's gateway to adventure. With paperwork complete, it's time to dive into the emerald embrace of the rainforest. Keep your eyes peeled for cheeky primates as we trek towards Mandara Hut, our cozy base for the night. Feeling adventurous? Let's conquer Maundi Crater for jaw-dropping views of the Kenyan wilderness! (Distance: 12km/8miles, Time: 6-8 hours, Elevation: 9,300ft to 11,811ft)
Day 2: Mandara Hut - Horombo Hut - Higher We Go!
Fuel up for another epic day! Leaving Mandara Hut, we'll cross the timberline, entering the fascinating heath and moor zone. After a scenic, 3-4 hour hike, the majestic Horombo Hut (3700m) awaits. Prepare to be mesmerized by panoramic views of Mawenzi, Kibo, and the vast Masai steppe! (Distance: 5km/3miles, Time: 3-4 hours, Elevation: 11,811ft to 14,160ft)
Day 3: Horombo Hut - Zebra Rocks - Acclimatize Like a Champion!
Today's all about getting your body summit-ready. After breakfast, we'll embark on a 4-hour adventure to the aptly named Zebra Rocks (4020m) - their distinctive stripes will leave you marveled! Back at Horombo Hut, a warm lunch awaits. Relax and recharge for tomorrow's exciting climb! (Distance: 2km/1mile, Time: 1-2 hours, Elevation: 14,160ft to 14,400ft)
Day 4: Horombo Hut - Kibo Camp - Pushing Towards the Clouds!
Get ready for a challenging but rewarding day! We'll follow a well-built trail, passing the "Last Water Point" before reaching the dramatic "Saddle" - a near-vegetationless plateau connecting Kibo and Mawenzi. Our final stop is Kibo Hut (15,430ft), reached after a 5-6 hour trek. Enjoy an early dinner and rest up - tomorrow is summit day! (Distance: 8km/5miles, Time: 5-6 hours, Elevation: 14,160ft to 15,430ft)
Day 5: Kibo Camp - Uhuru Peak - Summit Glory Awaits!
This is it, the moment you've been training for! We'll begin our final ascent around midnight - a long but unforgettable journey. Passing the Hans Meyer Cave (5220m), we'll steadily climb towards the sunrise. Witness the magical spectacle of dawn at Gillman's Point (5681m) - the crater rim of Kilimanjaro! After soaking in the view, we'll push on for 1-2 hours to reach the ultimate prize - Uhuru Peak, the "Roof of Africa" at a staggering 5895m! Celebrate your incredible achievement with photos and cheers before descending back to Kibo Hut for a well-deserved rest. We'll then descend further to Horombo Hut for the night. (Distance: 6km/4miles Up, 16km/10miles Down, Time: 6-8 hours Up, 4-5 hours Down, Elevation: 15,430ft to 19,341ft and back down to 12,250ft)
Day 6: Horombo Hut - Marangu Gate - Victory Lap!
Our final trek takes us through familiar territory - the heath and moor zone. Back at Mandara Hut (2700m), a warm lunch will refuel your champions' spirits. We'll continue descending through the rainforest, reaching Marangu Gate (1860m) after a triumphant 6-hour trek. Here, you'll bid farewell to your amazing guides and transfer back to your Moshi hotel. Take a well-deserved hot shower, recount your epic adventure, and celebrate reaching the top of Africa! (Distance: 20km/12miles, Time: 5-7 hours, Elevation: 12,205ft to 6,046ft)
Day 7: Departure - Farewell, Kilimanjaro!
